The Kartemquin Films Labor Collection

Classic films on American labor from Kartemquin.

During the 1970s and 80s, Chicago-based Kartemquin Films documented the historic transformation of the global economy as it played out in the industrial heartland of America. Their films captured the struggle of blue collar workers to save their unions and their standard of living in the face of demands for workplace concessions, closing factories, and the dismantling of the social safety net. Now, for the first time, seven of Kartemquin's classic films from this period are available for streaming to colleges and universities. (UE WELLS will be available by the end of summer 2013).
